NEW BUSINESS:

Discussion, consideration and approval of proposed zoning change at 515 East 7th Street, Gibson City.

Zoning Board chairman Marty Nuss reported on the Zoning Board meeting and recommendation of zoning change at 515 East 7th Street where an apartment complex is to be built by property owner Marc Petersen. The current R-2 zoning category requires buildings be 20 feet off the property line. Mr. Petersen represented by Marty Nuss is requesting that a variance allowing 15 feet off the property line be considered. In addition, he is asking for a 2nd variance that allows for diagonal parking between the sidewalk and the street, instead of parallel parking. City superintendent Randy Stauffer noted that the single-family residences in that area are all 15 feet off the property line. The 2 areas effected by this zoning change would be the property at 515 East 7th Street which will also face Wood Street when the 2nd building is completed. Mr. Nuss stated that the Board has approved the request. Alderman Dennis Pardick motioned to approve the recommendation of the Zoning Board allowing the requested soning variances at 515 East 7th Street; second by Alderman Randy Wyant. MC. 6-0 (including Major Dickey’s yes vote.) Aldermen Doug Parsons, Susie Tongate and Laura Miller were absent.

In another matter, City Superintendent Randy Stauffer referred to the temporary ‘no parking’ signs that have previously been placed during summer months between the RR tracks and West Street and 10th street, at the West Park. He requested that permanent signs be installed to eliminate confusion with the public. The council approved the request and will vote on the matter at the next council meeting.

ADJOURN: Alderman Dennis Pardick motioned to adjourn; seconded by Alderman Scott Davis. Council was poled with 5 ayes.
