Report: Urbana spent $13,835 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Urbana School District 116 is up 6 percent from five years ago, according to a Chambana Sun analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Champaign County school district spent $13,043 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $13,835 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 3983 to 4331.

Urbana's spending in 2016-17 was 7 percent higher than the state average of $12,973.
