City of Urbana Human Relations Commission met Oct. 11.

Here is the minutes provided by the Commission:

MEMBERS PRESENT: Peter Resnick, Katalyna Thomas, Carol Bradford, Frances Rigberg Baker,

MEMBERS NOT PRESENT: Samuel Byndom, Daniel Larson, Stacie Burnett, Lisa Mosley, Lolita Dumas

STAFF PRESENT: Vacellia Clark, Preston James, Monique James,

1. CALL TO ORDER, ROLL CALL, AND DECLARATION OF QUORUM

a. Vice Chair Resnick called this meeting of the Urbana Human Relations Commission to order at 5:35 p.m. Roll was taken. A quorum was present

2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA

a. Ms. Bradford a motion that the Commission approve the agenda as presented. Ms. Thomas seconded the motion. Vice Chair Resnick called for a voice vote. The motion carried.

3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES

a. Sept 13, 2017 Meeting

i. Ms. Rigberg-Baker made a motion that the Commission approve the draft minutes of the Sept 13, 2017 meeting as presented. Ms. Thomas seconded the motion.

Vice Chair Resnick called for a voice vote. The motion carried.

4. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION

a. There was none.

7. STAFF REPORT

a. Approval of EEO Workforce Statistics

i. The EEO Workforce Statistics were reviewed and staff recommendations for approval were as follows:

1. SunPower.

a. Recommend 2 years

2. WindShare

a. Recommend 1 year

3. Backer Tilly

a. Recommend 2 years

4. Top Quality Roofing Co.

a. Recommend 2 year

5. Otto Baum Co Inc.

a. Recommend 1 year

6. National Power Rodding Co.

a. Recommend 2 years

7. Reynold’s Towing Services

a. Recommend 2 years

8. Rice Tree Services

a. Recommend 2 years

9. Applied Research Associates.

a. Recommend 2 years

10. MTI Distributing Inc.

a. Recommend 1 year

11. Rogards

a. Recommend 2 years

12. Duce Construction Co.

a. Recommend 6 months

Ms. Clark gave a brief presentation to the Commission regarding the workforce statisticsfor each contractor/vendor, all of which were renewals of previous certifications. Comments and questions from the Commission were addressed by Ms. Clark. Ms. Rigberg-Baker made a motion that the Commission approve SunPower for 2 years, WinShare for 1 year, Baker Tilly for 2 years, Top Quality for 2 year, Otto Baum 1 year, National Power Rodding Co for 2 years, Reynolds for 2 years, Rice Tree Services for 2 years, Applied Research Associates for 2 years, MTI Distributing Inc 1 year, Rogards for 2 years, and Duce Construction Co for 6 months.

Ms. Thomas Second the motion, Vice Chair Resnick called for a voice vote. All were in favor. The motion carried unanimously.

b. HRO Activity Report

i. Ms. Clark presented the monthly activity report to the Commission. Comments and questions from the Commission were addressed by Ms. Clark during the course of his presentation.

8. ANNOUNCEMENTS

a. CU Books to prisoners Biannual book sale Saturday October 21th at the Independent Media Center. Address 202 S Broadway Urban IL, 61801. All proceeds go to purchase books for people incarcerated in Illinois.

9. ADJOURNMENT

a. There being no further business to come before the Commission, Vice Chair Resnick declared the meeting to be adjourned at 5:51 p.m.
