The Office of Champaign County Sheriff's Merit met April 11.

Members Present: Sami Anderson, Oliver J. Clark, Michael Kirby
Others Present: Captain Karee Voges
Call to Order:
Chair Michael Kirby called the meeting to order at 4:31 p.m. Declaring a quorum present, the Chair proceeded with the meeting.
Approval of Minutes:
Commissioner Anderson made a motion to approve the minutes from the November 7, 2016 meeting; seconded by Commissioner Clark. Motion passed.
Public Participation:
Captain Voges checked the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office - there was no public participation.
Action Items/Discussion:
Commissioner Anderson made a motion to approve changes to the Merit Commission Rules – Article IV, Classification of Personnel, extending the probationary period of newly hired officers from 12 months to 18 months; seconded by Commission Clark. Motion passed.
Commissioner Anderson made a motion to approve changes to the Merit Commission Rules – to modify Article III, Reports to the Merit Commission, deleting paragraphs A, B, D & E and to modify paragraph C to have records sent to the Merit Commission only if the Sheriff is asking the Merit Commission to take action, seconded by Commission Clark. Motion passed.
Other Business:
There was no “other business” for the commission to discuss.

Motion to adjourn the meeting by Commissioner Anderson; seconded by Commissioner Clark. The meeting adjourned at 4:33 p.m.
