Future guests -- or just interested passersby -- are invited to attend the groundbreaking for the Champaign Hampton Inn by Horve Hospitality at 11 a.m. on Aug. 10, according to a press release from the Champaign County Chamber of Commerce.

The hotel is being developed at 3308 Mission Drive, adjacent to the Carle building, which is also under construction. 

Steve Horve created Horve Hospitality Management in 2005 and has since developed, constructed and/or managed eight properties in Central Illinois, according to the company’s website. Horve has built more than 60 hotels, including the Hilton Garden Inn, Homewood Suites and Home2 Suites by Hilton in Champaign; the Decatur Conference Center and Hotel and Hampton Inn Decatur Southeast in Decatur; and the Homewood Suites by Hilton in Forsyth. The company also previously managed the President Abraham Lincoln Springfield DoubleTree by Hilton.

The Champaign Hampton Inn is scheduled to open in July 2018.
