The village of Mahomet approved a new stormwater management policy Dec 15.
The 18-page plan is meant to provide a water management framework for developers, keep residents safe and protect public health. It contains 21 sections detailing requirements for design, drainage, maintenance and other components and applies to most types of non-agricultural development within the village's borders.
It also includes permitting processes and penalties for developers who avoid the plan's parameters.
