The Champaign County Committee of the Whole held its regular meeting Dec. 8.
The committee forwarded for approval by the County Board the appointment of Stan James, Darlene Kloeppel, Elaine Fowler-Palencia, Michael Langendorf and Margaret White to the Mental Health Board; Bruce Hannon, Paulette Colemon-Peeples and James Faron to the Mass Transit District Board; Caitlin Kost to the Rural Transit Advisory Group; and Daniel Duitsman to Union Drainage District No. 2.
The Board will also be asked to reappoint Aillinn Dannave and Linda Bauer to their respective positions on the mental health and mass transit boards.
The committee approved a letter of support for the Rantoul Enterprize Zone, after taking in a presentation on the village's Tax Increment Financing Redevelopment Plan. Tax Increment Financing allows local governments to borrow funds for local infrastructure projects based on projected future tax revenues.
The committee also forwarded several measures to the County Board for final approval, including an energy-consulting contract with Good Energy LP.
Before adjourning, the Board passed a resolution urging the state to release the necessary funds to pay employee salaries that have been withheld while the state works through its budget impasse.
