Homer holds public hearing on zero lot-line zoning amendment

Villageofhomerlogo

The village of Homer's president and board of trustees will hold a public hearing Dec. 7 at the Homer Fire Station to consider adding a new zoning ordinance to the local zoning code.

The village is hoping to to create an additional zoning classification for zero lot-line usage for single-family residences, and a town house usage that permits the construction of a zero lot-line development of three separate single-family residences, under certain conditions.

Zero lot-line buildings are buildings with at least one side built directly on or against one of the property lines. Building up against the property line is a way of maximizing the overall amount of space that can be developed or, eventually, the amount of livable space on a given lot.

The president and board of trustees will act as the Zoning Board of Appeals and will consider public testimony and ultimately make a recommendation to itself regarding the opinion on the proposed ordinance.

The hearing is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
