On October 26, members of the professional fraternity Alpha Rho Chi organized a cleanup competition at Washington Park in Champaign. The event took place at 245 E. Chalmers and aimed to remove litter from the park. Participants used gloves, litter sticks, trash bags, and buckets supplied by the Neighborhood Relations engagement trailer.
During the competition, volunteers raced to collect as much trash as possible. In total, the group gathered 88 pounds of garbage from the park. The individual who collected the most picked up 22 pounds and was awarded a trophy made from recycled materials.
The Neighborhood Relations engagement trailer has become a resource for registered neighborhood groups, local service organizations, and City Departments. It provides games and supplies that help make outreach and engagement events more effective.
