Illinois soccer falls to Northwestern 1-0 in Evanston

Illinois women's soccer lost 1-0 to Northwestern on Thursday night at Martin Stadium in Evanston. The only goal of the match was scored by Northwestern's Kelsey Kwon in the 15th minute with a header inside the box.

Illinois goalkeeper Izzy Lee recorded six saves during the game. Northwestern had a clear advantage in shots, outshooting Illinois 17-4 and holding a 7-1 edge in shots on goal. Illinois' only shot on target came from Sarah Foley in the 24th minute.

The Illini, now holding a 12-3-1 overall record and a 5-3-1 mark in Big Ten play, will play again on Sunday, October 19, against No. 16 Michigan State in East Lansing. The match is set to begin at noon Central Time.
