State Representative Brandun Schweizer (R-Danville) welcomed the Westville Wildcats junior high girls’ softball team to the Illinois Capitol on Wednesday to honor their recent victory in the 2025 IESA Class 2A State Championship.
“Congratulations to the Westville Junior High girls’ softball team,” said Rep. Schweizer. “The players have made tremendous effort, with their overall record for the last two seasons of the IESA being 44-1. I am proud of the Westville Wildcats’ work and can’t wait to see what they achieve next year.”
During their visit, the team, led by coaches Matt Darling and Ed Barney, toured the Illinois House Floor and were recognized in the Speaker’s Gallery during a legislative session. The athletes also received official certificates from the Illinois House of Representatives to mark their achievement.
Schweizer, a Republican, was elected to represent Illinois’ 104th House District in 2023, succeeding Mike Marron.
