On September 4, 2025, Tracy Parsons, Community Relations Manager in the Equity and Engagement Department, spoke to over 110 cadets at the Police Training Institute. The presentation focused on the significance of community relations and public engagement within law enforcement.

During the session, city staff highlighted strategies for building trust with residents and emphasized the importance of cultural awareness. They also discussed how consistent engagement can help strengthen partnerships between law enforcement and the community.

The event brought together cadets from across Illinois as part of their training program.
