Today, Congresswoman Mary Miller from Illinois' 15th District expressed her support for H.R. 1, known as the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act. In a statement following her vote in favor of the bill, she described it as "a once-in-a-generation victory for the American people," emphasizing its alignment with President Trump's America First agenda.
According to Miller, the legislation represents significant progress for workers, families, and farmers in America. The bill includes measures such as eliminating taxes on tips and overtime, providing permanent tax relief for small businesses and working families, and enhancing support for American agriculture.
The act also addresses border security by funding mass deportations and aims to end what is referred to as radical "Green" New Scam tax subsidies. Additionally, it seeks to boost American energy production, strengthen military capabilities, and ensure federal benefits like SNAP and Medicaid are reserved for American citizens only.
Miller highlighted her role on the House Committee on Agriculture in securing a provision within the bill that prevents illegal immigrants from receiving taxpayer-funded SNAP benefits. This measure has passed the House and awaits further approval to become law.
Furthermore, Miller noted a significant pro-life achievement through the defunding of Planned Parenthood included in this legislation. She stated that this action cuts off federal funding to what she termed an "abusive, profit-driven abortion giant."
Every Democrat in the House opposed this bill.
