The Fighting Illini men's golf team is set to compete in the 2025 NCAA Championship, taking place from May 23-28 at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California. Ranked No. 12 in the latest NCAA Division I team rankings, Illinois enters as the No. 11 seed among a field of 30 teams.

Head coach Mike Small has led Illinois to its seventh regional title after sharing victory at the NCAA Urbana Regional earlier this month. This achievement secured their 31st appearance at the National Championship and marks their 18th bid under Small's guidance since he began coaching in the 2000-01 season.

The tournament will unfold over six days, starting with four rounds of stroke play from Friday through Monday to determine individual national champions. The top eight teams will then proceed to match play on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Illinois' lineup includes Ryan Voois, Jackson Buchanan, Max Herendeen, Jake Birdwell, Trey Marrion, and alternate Ethan Wilson. Voois notably finished as runner-up at the Urbana Regional.

The championship course was renovated by architect Gil Hanse prior to last year's event. It is known for its lush gardens and proximity to beaches.

Live scoring will be available on Clippd Scoreboard throughout both stroke play and match play stages. The Golf Channel will provide live coverage beginning May 26 when individual champions are determined and continue through all match-play rounds on May 27-28.

In historical context, Illinois has made nine appearances in match play since adopting this format in 2009, tying for first nationally with Oklahoma State. They have achieved significant success under Small's leadership, including two individual NCAA champions: Scott Langley in 2010 and Thomas Pieters in 2012.
