State Senator Chapin Rose has released a statement in response to the visit of U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem to Springfield. The focus was on Governor Pritzker’s sanctuary state policies, which Senator Rose criticizes as being dangerous.
Senator Rose stated, "Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s visit to Springfield spotlighted what Illinoisans already know: Governor Pritzker’s sanctuary state policies are reckless, dangerous, and putting lives at risk." He emphasized that while Governor Pritzker promotes Illinois as a welcoming state, he overlooks the consequences such as violence and crime affecting local communities.
The senator highlighted concerns over safety within his district and throughout Illinois. He said, "My district’s families are paying the price because he’s failing to keep our communities safe. This crisis isn’t just at the border — it’s right here, all over Illinois."
Rose further criticized the approach of protecting criminals and excluding federal authorities from involvement. He concluded by saying, "Protecting criminals while shutting out federal authorities isn’t leadership — it’s crazy."
