Illinois softball team's efforts in the seventh inning proved insufficient as they were defeated by Michigan State, 7-5, at Eichelberger Field on Saturday. The Fighting Illini have a record of 16-20 for the season, with a 3-8 record in the Big Ten Conference. Meanwhile, the Spartans improved to 13-21 overall and have a 3-9 record in conference play.
During the game, two Illini players, Stevie Meade and Eileen Donahue, managed to hit home runs. Meade hit a solo home run over the left field fence, and Donahue followed with a three-run homer.
The series against Michigan State will conclude on Sunday afternoon, with the first pitch scheduled for noon on B1G+.
