Three Illinois women's basketball players have been awarded Academic All-District honors by the College Sports Communicators. Kendall Bostic, Adalia McKenzie, and Genesis Bryant were recognized for their academic and athletic achievements.
Bostic and McKenzie received the honor for the third time in their careers, while Bryant was recognized for the second consecutive year. Bostic is pursuing a master's degree in special education after earning a bachelor's degree in speech and hearing sciences. McKenzie is working towards an undergraduate degree in recreation, sport, and tourism. Bryant has completed her undergraduate degree in communications and is now pursuing a master's degree in management.
The award requires nominees to maintain at least a 3.50 GPA and be academically and athletically classified as sophomores or higher. Additionally, they must be starters or significant reserves who participate in at least 90% of games or start 66% of contests.
On the court, Bostic achieved career-highs with 20 double-doubles during her final year of eligibility, leading the team with averages of 15.6 points and 11.2 rebounds per game. She also set personal records with 13 three-pointers, 62 assists, 33 blocks, and 21 steals.
McKenzie finished her college career averaging 13.5 points per game while maintaining consistent participation throughout all possible games during her tenure at Illinois.
Bryant averaged 14.9 points per game along with a record-setting free-throw percentage of 89.3%. Her performance earned her an All-Big Ten Second Team selection.
Illinois ended its season with a record of 22-10 after securing its first NCAA Tournament win since 2000.
