Illinois softball defeats Missouri State at Wooo Pig Classic

Illinois softball secured a 4-2 victory over Missouri State at the Wooo Pig Classic held in Fayetteville, Arkansas. This win marks the team's ninth triumph in the 2025 season, while Missouri State has now suffered its thirteenth loss.

Eileen Donahue played a pivotal role for Illinois by hitting a home run and contributing two RBIs. Stevie Meade added to the score with an RBI triple, and Adisyn Caryl also hit a solo home run. Lauren Wiles pitched a complete game for Illinois, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out four batters.

The game remained scoreless until the third inning when Missouri State took a 2-0 lead. Illinois responded in the fourth inning as Caryl reached base on balls and Donahue hit a home run to level the score at 2-2.

In the fifth inning, Ava Moore's single set up Meade's RBI triple, giving Illinois a 3-2 lead. Caryl then extended the lead to 4-2 with her fifth home run of the year in the sixth inning.

Despite some challenges in securing the final out in the seventh inning, Illinois managed to close out their victory against Missouri State.

Looking ahead, Illinois is set for a rematch against #11/12 Arkansas with first pitch scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on SECN+.

Additional notes from this match include that Illinois wore anthracite jerseys during this game and improved their record while wearing them to 3-1. The team out-hit Missouri State by five hits to four. Donahue recorded her third home run of the season and Wiles completed her third full game of this campaign. Wiles also limited Missouri State's effectiveness with runners in scoring position to just one hit out of five attempts (.200). Historically, Illinois now leads their all-time series against Missouri State with two wins to one loss.
