Illinois women's basketball loses to USC despite strong performances

Illinois' women's basketball team, ranked 25th, faced a challenging match against the University of Southern California (USC), ranked fourth. The game concluded with Illinois losing 76-66 in Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon.

The Fighting Illini made a strong effort, turning a significant deficit into a brief lead during the third quarter. However, USC managed to regain control and secure their victory in the second half.

Genesis Bryant was pivotal for Illinois, scoring 22 points and making five three-pointers. She also contributed four rebounds and four assists while playing the entire game. Kendall Bostic achieved her 18th double-double of the season with 18 points and 16 rebounds. Bostic also recorded five assists and two blocks during her full-time play on the court.

Berry Wallace scored 14 points over her career-high 40 minutes on the court, marking her tenth double-digit scoring game this season. Adalia McKenzie overcame early foul trouble to contribute seven points along with five rebounds and four assists. Brynn Shoup-Hill added five points, six rebounds, and achieved a personal best of four steals.

Illinois will conclude its regular season at home next Sunday against Michigan for Senior Day at State Farm Center. The game is set to start at 12:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcasted on Big Ten Network.

Kendall Bostic's performance has brought her closer to setting new records within the program's history in terms of double-doubles and rebounding achievements. Genesis Bryant continues to climb up Illinois' career list for three-point shots made.

The team had moments of defensive strength during the game against USC but ultimately could not maintain their lead or overcome USC's final push.
