Fighting Illini junior Kenta Miyoshi has been named the Big Ten Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the second time this season, as announced by the conference office. The recognition follows Miyoshi's impressive performances in Illinois' recent home doubleheader sweep against Clemson and Notre Dame.

Miyoshi, originally from Kawasaki, Japan, delivered a strong performance at No. 1 singles. He was instrumental in securing victories for his team with ranked wins against both opponents. In a notable comeback win over Clemson, Miyoshi overcame Noa Vukadin, ranked No. 51, after losing the first set. He won the second set and clinched the match with a third-set tiebreaker victory, marking his second decisive match of the season.

Later that evening, Miyoshi continued his success with a straight-set victory over Notre Dame's Sebastian Dominko, who is ranked No. 33. This win represented Miyoshi's 12th triumph over a ranked opponent this season and improved his overall singles record to 17-7.

Currently holding a career-high ranking of No. 13 in ITA singles, Miyoshi had previously earned the Big Ten Men's Tennis Player of the Week title on September 18.

Looking ahead, Miyoshi and his team are scheduled to face off against No. 20 Michigan at Atkins Tennis Center on Saturday at 6 p.m. CT. The event will be open to the public without charge.
