Champaign issues building permits for projects over $250K

The Champaign Fire Department's Building Safety Division has issued building permits for several projects with construction values of $250,000 or more. These permits cover a range of alterations and new constructions across various addresses.

On December 12, 2024, a permit was issued for roofing alterations at 815 Pioneer St with a construction value of $339,622. Shortly after, on December 16, 2024, an alteration permit valued at $404,730 was granted for rooftop solar installations at 212 W Anthony Dr.

Two significant multi-family new constructions were approved on December 18, 2024. The projects located at 2613 JT Coffman and 2617 JT Coffman have estimated values of $4,741,446 and $6,321,928 respectively.

Additional permits include an office alteration at 608 S Neil St valued at $300,000 issued on December 23, 2024. On December 26 and December 27 of the same year, permits were granted for alterations related to a Red Bull fit-out and a Pilates studio at locations costing $271,376 and $260,000 respectively.

A nail salon alteration valued at $310,000 received approval on December 30. Moving into the new year on January 10th and February 10th of 2025 saw further approvals: ventilation work at a cost of $625,000 on N Mattis Ave; video game office alterations worth $623,222; and a new multi-family project on W Washington St with an estimated value of $1.58 million.

For the year ending in December 2024, the total construction value amounted to approximately $147 million.
