FusionFest celebrates Lunar New Year with diverse performances at Krannert Center

Staff from the Equity and Engagement Department attended the inaugural FusionFest at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts on February 2, 2025. The event celebrated the Lunar New Year, marking the Year of the Snake with a cultural display. The Chinese Students and Scholars Association at U of I and the New American Welcome Center co-sponsored this event.

The Lunar New Year is an important holiday in East and Southeast Asia, symbolizing a new beginning and community spirit. FusionFest provided an opportunity for people from various backgrounds to engage with diverse traditions. The festival featured over 18 performances, ranging from local children's groups to internationally recognized artists, showcasing Asian cultures.

FusionFest demonstrated community strength and offered a joyful way to celebrate the Lunar New Year.
