On January 17, 2025, Mikal Washington from the Equity and Engagement Department participated in an informational meeting about the Small Business and Infrastructure Grant Program. The event was led by Matt Simpson, African American Business Development Grants Manager at the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO), in collaboration with H3.
The meeting aimed to provide insights into a new grant opportunity for small businesses. Over 40 CDAP businesses attended to learn about the program's emphasis on capacity building, capital enhancements, and infrastructure development. Attendees were given the chance to ask questions and hear directly from a state representative regarding the specifics and advantages of the program.
Matt Simpson stated that the session offered "valuable insights into a new grant opportunity," which aims to assist small businesses in their growth and infrastructure needs.
