Champaign's public works cover over 7000 miles in winter storm cleanup

The Illinois State Water Survey reported that Champaign experienced 3.7 inches of snowfall from January 5 to January 7, 2025. In response to the storm, Public Works' snow and ice operators covered a total of 7,205 miles to clear the city's streets. This distance is just 150 miles less than a round trip from Champaign to Anchorage, Alaska.
