Ameren Illinois is set to conduct sewer inspections to address potential cross bore hazards involving natural gas lines. These inspections typically involve inserting a camera into the sewer main. However, if the sewer main is not accessible, Ameren's contractor may need to access the line from inside homes. This initiative is part of Ameren's Distribution Integrity Program and is managed by Ameren Construction Services.

Cross bores occur when a utility line is inadvertently installed through a sewer line, posing significant risks if a natural gas line intersects with it. A damaged natural gas line in such situations could lead to leaks into buildings.

The televising project will commence in February 2025, covering areas from John Street to Sangamon Drive (north to south) and Crescent Drive to Mattis Avenue (west to east), as well as Bloomington Road to Joanne Lane (north to south) and Garden Hills Drive to McKinley Avenue (west to east).

For inquiries, contact Ameren Construction Services Superintendents: Jason Dent at 618-315-1643 or John Berry at 309-338-2273.
