Champaign Police responded early on December 24, 2024, to a call regarding a man lying outside a residence in the 500 block of Edgebrook Drive. Upon arrival, officers found an 18-year-old man from Champaign who initially appeared to have minor injuries. Further examination revealed he had multiple potentially life-threatening gunshot wounds on his torso. He was transported to a nearby hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
The investigation suggests that the incident occurred during an altercation between acquaintances inside the man's residence, resulting in gunfire. The other individual involved left before police arrived. Authorities are seeking witnesses and any video footage from nearby surveillance cameras that might assist in their investigation. No arrests have been made, and the investigation continues.
