Champaign police responded to a shooting incident on the 2400 block of W. Springfield Avenue at 7:50 p.m. on December 9, 2024. Officers discovered a 21-year-old woman with multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds and provided medical aid with help from the Champaign Fire Department. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where she later died.

Police are searching for witnesses and video footage that could assist in their investigation. They urge residents or businesses with exterior surveillance cameras to contact them. No arrests have been made, and updates will be provided as they become available.
