Champaign sets holiday tree collection for January 13

The City of Champaign has announced the date for its annual Holiday Tree Collection Program. The collection is scheduled for Monday, January 13, 2025, and is available at no cost to all residential properties within the city's corporate limits.

Residents are required to place their trees within four feet of the curb by 6 a.m. on the designated day. The collected trees will be chipped and converted into garden mulch. However, trees that have stands, decorations, tinsel, lights, artificial snow or frost, plastic bags, garland, or any other non-recyclable materials will not be collected.

For those unable to meet these requirements or seeking an alternative disposal method, undecorated and unflocked trees can be taken to the Landscape Recycling Center located at 1210 E. University Avenue in Urbana for free disposal throughout January and February.

The city emphasizes that tree collection will not occur by zone; therefore, all trees must be ready for pickup by the specified time on January 13. While collection is dependent on weather conditions, efforts will be made to complete pickups as promptly as possible.

The City of Champaign extends its gratitude to residents who participate in yard waste collection programs and encourages them to sign up for future event notifications through the city's website at champaignil.gov/email-subscription-lists.
