On December 3, 2024, Champaign Police participated in the annual Shop with a Cop event at Meijer in Champaign. The event was supported by community donations and organized by CPD officers to ensure families in the community enjoy a festive holiday season. Participants shared a meal that included pizza and food donated by Meijer. Santa made an appearance for conversations, photos, and "apparently – a field interview with Deputy Chief Olmstead."
The gathering also included members from the Police Explorers, Parkland College Police Department, and United States Marshal’s Service.
