The Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire in a commercial building located in the 300 block of S. Market St. on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 12:41 p.m. The fire crews managed to bring the situation under control quickly.
Firefighters were alerted by a passerby about the fire in the single-story commercial structure. Upon arrival, they observed moderate smoke and flames emanating from the building. The firefighters deployed multiple hose lines into the structure and successfully extinguished the blaze.
Currently, investigators are still on site trying to determine the cause of the fire. No injuries among firefighters have been reported.
