Kendall Bostic has been named the Big Ten Player of the Week following an impressive performance in Week 2. The senior player led her team, the Fighting Illini, to a 5-0 record with outstanding statistics: averaging 28 points per game, 10 rebounds per game, one steal per game, and zero turnovers.
Bostic's efficiency was unmatched as she shot 83.9% from the floor on 26-of-31 attempts and made all four of her free throws. Her scoring prowess was evident as she achieved more field goals than nearly all other players in the Big Ten during this period. She was also unique in recording two games with at least 20 points, including a standout performance where she scored over 30 points.
In one notable game against Oregon State, Bostic not only contributed significantly to her team's victory but also reached personal milestones by becoming just the fourth player in Illinois program history to score both 1,000 points and grab 1,000 rebounds. She is now second on Illinois' career rebounding list with a total of 1,045 rebounds.
Throughout the week, Bostic added two more games to her record of scoring at least 20 points and achieved her first-ever game scoring over 30 points. This recognition marks a significant achievement for Bostic as it is her first time receiving this award.
The last Illinois player to receive Big Ten Player of the Week honors was Genesis Bryant during the previous season when she earned back-to-back Co-Player of the Week awards.
