On November 14, 2024, Mikal Washington from the Equity and Engagement Department conducted a diversity, equity, and inclusion training session for Boy Scouts of America Troop 101. During this session, the Scouts were given an assignment to interview someone in their community, school, or scouting network who has significantly contributed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The purpose of this task was to assist the Scouts in earning a Citizenship and Society Merit Badge. They were encouraged to delve into what inspired these individuals, the obstacles they encountered, and the factors that led to their achievements. City staff participated in the event as well, engaging with the Scouts and providing insights on fostering inclusivity. The goal was to help them understand how they can implement these lessons to promote equity within their communities.
