If you haven’t been in Council Chambers recently, there is a new reason to visit. In collaboration with 40North, Council Chambers has showcased various artists' works along the rear wall since 2015. The latest exhibit, installed on November 12, 2024, features local artist Jose Vazquez. His art may be familiar to some due to several murals he has completed in the area, including one across from the City Building.
The exhibit displays brightly colored artwork covering a wide range of subjects. Vazquez has created commissioned pieces for organizations such as the CTA and Chicago Park District, Champaign Park District, and CU Public Health. He also has over two decades of experience in the video game industry, having worked with DS Volition.
Visitors can view Vazquez's work during City Council meetings and other events held at Council Chambers.
