On November 12, 2024, Janel Gomez, the Community Relations Manager in the Equity and Engagement Department, was invited to present at Keller Williams Realty's Lunch and Learn session. The topic of discussion was microaggressions—subtle, often unintentional words or actions that convey negative or derogatory messages towards marginalized groups. These microaggressions can be verbal, nonverbal, or environmental and often arise from unconscious biases.

Although those making such comments may not intend harm, microaggressions can still be hurtful and damaging. They frequently invalidate or demean the target individual's identity or experience. The training session aimed to equip all Keller Williams staff with tools to identify microaggressions and manage difficult conversations surrounding this issue.
