City Council Members and staff from the Equity and Engagement Department attended a gathering titled "Building Wellness, Advancing Equity: A Community Gathering for Health & Human Services Professionals" on November 14, 2024. The event was sponsored by Campus-Community Compact and took place at the MTD City Building.
The gathering included several community organizations such as the Eastern Illinois Foodbank, CU Public Health District, Habitat for Humanity, and the Champaign County Mental Health Board. The primary focus was to explore equity in health and wellness.
Participants engaged in discussions about barriers to achieving an equitable community and shared innovative ideas for overcoming these challenges. A significant topic of discussion was self-care and balancing it with work in community wellness care. The event provided opportunities for connection among attendees.
