Illinois began its 2024-25 basketball season with a decisive exhibition win over Lewis, securing an 80-53 victory at the State Farm Center on Friday night. The game saw three Illinois players scoring in double figures, led by Kendall Bostic's 22-point performance.

Head coach Shauna Green, now in her third year leading the Illinois women's basketball team, utilized the exhibition to provide playing time for 12 players. Despite adding six new members to the team over the summer, the starting lineup remained unchanged with Genesis Bryant, Makira Cook, Brynn Shoup-Hill, Adalia McKenzie, and Kendall Bostic taking the court.

Bostic was a standout performer for Illinois, achieving double figures before halftime. She finished with a shooting record of 7-for-9 from the field and contributed eight rebounds, three blocks, and one assist.

Gretchen Dolan made a significant impact off the bench by scoring 16 points. Her performance included five rebounds—three of which were offensive—and two assists. Meanwhile, McKenzie added 13 points along with five rebounds, three steals, and three assists.

The Illini are set to open their regular season at home against No. 19 Florida State on Thursday at 6 p.m. CT. Tickets for this ranked matchup can be purchased through FightingIllini.com.
