Raina Terry has been recognized as an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Northeast All-Region selection for the second consecutive season. This announcement came on Tuesday, adding to her accolades following her recent First-Team All-Big Ten selection by the league's coaches and media.
Terry concluded her senior year leading the Big Ten with 618 total points and ranking second with 539 kills. Nationally, she stood sixth in kills per set and seventh in points per set. Her performance included 13.18 attacks per set, placing her third nationwide and first in the Big Ten.
In conference matches, Terry ranked second with 5.41 points per set and third with 4.72 kills per set. She also contributed significantly from the service line, ranking tenth in aces per set within the conference.
Throughout this season, Terry achieved ten matches with at least 20 kills, including seven against Big Ten opponents, along with three double-doubles. She led her team in kills for most of their matches this year.
Hailing from Marengo, Ohio, Terry became the first player in the Big Ten to surpass 500 kills this season during a match against Michigan on Senior Night. In a game against Ohio State, she recorded a career-high of 28 kills over four sets.
After four years at Illinois, Terry ranks tenth all-time for career kills at Illinois and fourth for career aces. Notably, she is currently the only active player in the Big Ten exceeding both 1,500 career kills and 150 aces.
Terry is now among fourteen Illinois players who have received multiple AVCA All-Region First-Team honors and follows Jacqueline Quade as one of few to earn it consecutively since Quade did so in 2018 and 2019.
The upcoming AVCA Convention in Tampa will announce further honors including All-American teams as well as national player and coach awards next week.
