The Illinois men's golf team, ranked 16th in the NCAA Division I team rankings and 17th nationally in the GCAA's Bushnell/Golfweek coaches poll, is set to compete in The Johnnie-O at Sea Island. This tournament will take place on March 11-12 at the Sea Island Resort's Plantation Course in St. Simons Island, Georgia.

This event marks the third of the spring schedule for Illinois. Previously, they secured a victory at the Hal Williams Collegiate in Mobile, Alabama, and achieved a top-five finish at the Southern Highlands Collegiate in Las Vegas.

The Johnnie-O at Sea Island is hosted by Rutgers University and will be held on a course originally designed by Walter Davis in 1928 and redesigned by Mark Love and PGA professional Davis Love III. The competition features a par-72 course spanning 7,060 yards.

A total of 14 programs are participating, including six Big Ten opponents. The field includes several teams ranked within the top 60 of NCAA Division I rankings such as Texas (19), Notre Dame (41), UNC Greensboro (46), Kansas (55), Kansas State (59), among others.

Illinois' lineup consists of Tyler Goecke, Max Herendeen, Jackson Buchanan, Ryan Voois, Timmy Crawford with Ethan Wilson, Jerry Ji, and Piercen Hunt competing individually.

Live scoring will be available through GolfStat for both team and individual competitions. Recaps and results will be posted on FightingIllini.com after each day.

Following this tournament, Illinois will face Texas in an exhibition match at Chechessee Creek Club in Okatie, South Carolina on March 14. Both teams have significant histories with multiple NCAA Match Play appearances since its current format began in 2009.
