Fighting Illini golfers conclude Highland Meadows Intercollegiate

Three golfers from the Fighting Illini team concluded their participation as individual competitors at the Highland Meadow Intercollegiate on Tuesday. Piercen Hunt and Jerry Ji both secured a tie for fourth place, while Timmy Crawford advanced to a tie for 12th in the 75-player field at Highland Meadows Golf Club.

Crawford achieved the best Round 3 score among his teammates, finishing with a 68 (-3), which allowed him to move up nine spots on the leaderboard. His performance included an initial round of 74 on Monday, followed by a second-round score of 69 (-2), placing him in a tie for 21st with one round remaining. He ended the event at 2-under with an overall score of 211 over three rounds.

Ji finished his play with an even-par 71, maintaining his position in fourth place with a total score of 207 (-6) after recording rounds of 67 (-4) and 69 (-2) on Monday. Hunt began Tuesday tied for second at 7-under following scores of 68 (-3) and 67 (-4) in Rounds 1 and 2, respectively. However, he concluded with a score of 72 (+1), resulting in a tie with Ji.

The Fighting Illini team is currently ranked eighteenth in NCAA Division I team rankings and seventeenth in the latest GCAA Coaches Poll. They will wrap up their regular season this weekend at the Fighting Illini Spring Collegiate. This event is held at Atkins Golf Club at the University of Illinois and provides an opportunity for top-tier college competition.
