Fighting Illini head coach Shauna Green has announced that Nick Erickson will join the Illinois women's basketball staff as a graduate assistant. Erickson has been involved with the program as a practice player and manager for the past two seasons.

"I'm super excited to have Nick remain in our program as a graduate assistant," said Green. "He has been a vital part of our team the last two years as a manager. He loves Illinois and has been critical to our success. His knowledge of our system and program make this a seamless transition. Nick has an elite work ethic, was a former D1 basketball player, and is a great relationship builder, all of which will help our players get better every day. I'm excited to have him in this new role!"

Erickson expressed his enthusiasm about continuing his journey at the University of Illinois: "I am incredibly excited to be staying at the University of Illinois and continuing my work with Coach Green and the women's basketball program," he stated. "Illinois has always been home to me, and to be able to learn from some of the best coaches in the country is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity from Coach Green and ready to get to work! I-L-L!"

A 2024 graduate of the University of Illinois, Erickson comes from Gilberts, Illinois, where he earned his bachelor's degree in financial planning and services. He is now pursuing a master's degree in management.

During his time with the Orange and Blue, Erickson traveled with the team for away games, served on the scout team, and assisted with video coordination.

Before joining Illinois, Erickson had an impressive high school career at Hampshire High School and played one season of Division I basketball at Jacksonville University before transferring. At Jacksonville, he was also involved as a SAAC representative for men's basketball while achieving Dean's List honors both semesters.

In high school, Erickson was recognized twice on the Fox Valley All-Area Team and received All-Conference honors twice. He served as varsity team captain during his junior and senior years while maintaining honor roll status.
