The Illinois men's golf team, ranked 21st in the NCAA Division I team rankings and tied for 20th nationally in the GCAA's Bushnell/Golfweek coaches poll, is set to compete at the 34th Annual Duck Invitational. The tournament will take place on March 25-26 at Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Oregon.
This event marks the team's second visit to the Pacific Northwest this season. They previously secured a win at the Sahalee Players Championship in Sammamish, Washington, last September. Recently, the Illini finished eighth at The Johnnie-O at Sea Island during their Spring Break trip and participated in a match-play exhibition against Texas.
The Duck Invitational is hosted by Oregon and will be held at Eugene Country Club. The course is known for its scenic setting among tall firs and is considered one of the finest on the Pacific Coast. It will play as a par-71 over 6,997 yards.
The tournament format includes a 54-hole competition played over two days with a five-count-four format. There will be 36 holes on Monday followed by Tuesday's final round. Play begins each day with a shotgun start at 10:30 a.m. CT/8:30 a.m. PT.
Fifteen programs are competing for the team title, including eleven teams ranked within the top 65 of NCAA Division I rankings. Alongside Illinois are host Oregon (ranked 24th), Oklahoma State (30th), Loyola Marymount (39th), Northwestern (41st), Fresno State (46th), San Jose State (53rd), Oregon State (54th), Colorado (58th), Grand Canyon (63rd), Colorado State (64th), Utah (89th), Cal Poly (106th), UTEP (117th), and Boise State (171st).
The lineup for Illinois includes Tyler Goecke, Max Herendeen, Jackson Buchanan, Ryan Voois, and Ethan Wilson.
Live scoring for the event can be followed on GolfStat with recaps available on FightingIllini.com after each day of play.
This year's Duck Invitational marks Illinois' first participation in this event since its inception.
Looking ahead, Illinois will compete next in early April at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational hosted by Augusta University from April 6-7.
