Illinois freshman swimmer Chloe Diner has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference on Wednesday. This recognition marks a significant achievement for Illinois, with Diner being the first to receive this honor since Megan Vuong in 2015.

Diner's performance in her debut competition was noteworthy. She secured victory in the 500 freestyle event with a time of 5:02.26, marking her first individual event win. Additionally, she triumphed in the 200 IM with a time of 2:03.08 and contributed to the winning effort in the 200 medley relay team with a split of 28.50.
