ACT-SO annual kickoff event highlights opportunities for African American youth

On September 30, 2024, Tracy Parsons from the Equity and Engagement Department participated in the ACT-SO Annual Kickoff event. The NAACP Champaign County Branch organized this event at the Champaign Public Library. It served as an introduction to the ACT-SO program, which stands for Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics.

Attendees were provided with information about ACT-SO's mission and its various components aimed at empowering African American youth. The program is designed to showcase their talents across different fields.

The event highlighted the importance of ACT-SO in promoting cultural and academic excellence among young African Americans.
