Champaign Police were dispatched to the 300 Block of E. Bradley Avenue at 10:23 p.m. on September 16, 2024, following reports of a shooting with injuries. On-scene, officers located a 16-year-old male victim from Urbana with multiple potentially life-threatening gunshot wounds to the torso. Officers and personnel with the Champaign Fire Department immediately rendered medical aid until the victim could be transported to an area hospital. He was taken immediately to surgery upon arrival and remains in serious but stable condition.

The initial investigation indicates that the teen was walking near Bradley Avenue when shots rang out, and he was struck. At this time, Champaign Police are working to determine the cause of the gunfire and any information related to those responsible for it. Both remain unknown at this time, and this remains an active and ongoing investigation. Officers continue to canvass the surrounding area for witnesses and video footage that may be of investigative assistance. Any resident or business in the nearby area with exterior surveillance camera systems is encouraged to notify the police department. No arrests have been made at this time.
