On September 11, 2024, the Champaign Fire and Police Departments held a ceremony at West Side Park to honor the lives lost in the tragic events of 9/11. The event featured reflections, the ringing of the bell, and the lowering of the flag in memory of the victims, first responders, and their families.
The ceremony was attended by elected officials, City staff, and members of the public. For those unable to attend, the Communications Division recorded the event for later viewing. This tribute is replaying on CGTV and is available online.
"We invite you to watch and share it with your friends and family," said a spokesperson from the Communications Division. "As we come together as a community to honor the bravery and sacrifice displayed on that day."
