On August 10, 2024, the City participated in the annual CU Days event. This event is steeped in history and popular for its resources, community focus, and activities. The Equity & Engagement and Neighborhood Services Departments collaborated to distribute back-to-school supplies and share information about City resources. More than 200 children received items such as notebooks, water bottles, and folders to support their return to school.

Additionally, Neighborhood Services worked with the City of Urbana to gather community feedback for the Consolidated Plan. This plan sought input on how to allocate $4 million across the two cities for various options like youth programming, housing, and employment.
