CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Thomas Detry enters the postseason race on the PGA TOUR, while former Illini teammate Brian Campbell heads into this week's Korn Ferry Tour event having officially secured his PGA TOUR Card for the 2025 season.
Thomas Detry is ranked No. 34 entering this week's action at the FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tenn., the first of three events that comprise the PGA TOUR's FedExCup Playoffs. The top 50 golfers coming out of Memphis will advance to the BMW Championship next week, followed by the top 30 contenders in action at the TOUR Championship.
Last season, Detry tied for 61st at the FedEx St. Jude Championship and narrowly finished outside of the top-50 standing needed to advance, at No. 52. Fresh off a top-10 finish (T9) at the Paris Olympics two weeks ago, Detry is in one of his best professional seasons and currently sits at No. 55 in the OWGR rankings after peaking earlier this season at a career-best rank of 48th.
Brian Campbell, poised for a return to the PGA TOUR next season, will be joined by Timmy Crawford this week at the Magnit Championship, held at Metedeconk National Golf Club in Jackson Township, N.J. Campbell officially wrapped up his return to the PGA TOUR, where he first played as a tour rookie in 2016-17. Currently No. 10 on the Korn Ferry Tour points list, he has turned in an outstanding season that has included 16 made cuts in 20 events highlighted by eight top-25s, five top-10s, and a pair of runner-up finishes.
He is the fourth former Illini in three years to earn PGA TOUR status through the Korn Ferry Tour following Detry and Nick Hardy in 2022 and Adrien Dumont de Chassart in 2023.
Last season, Campbell tied for 23rd at the Magnit Championship.
Crawford will make his fourth start of the season and is looking for his second made cut after a T5 finish as an open qualifier in his Korn Ferry Tour debut last month at The Ascendant.
Matthis Besard is competing this week at D+D REAL Czech Masters at PGA National OAKS Prague in Prague, Czech Republic. Besard seeks a third consecutive Top-25 finish on DP World Tour after posting a T6 finish at BMW International Open and T25 finish ISCO Championship last month.
