Village of Rossville Police, Health & Safety Committee met May 28
Here are the minutes provided by the committee:
A quorum was established as Chairman Black and Trustees Gammon and Cornell were physically present at the committee meeting held at the Rossville Municipal Building, located at 120 East Attica Street in Rossville, Illinois. Trustee Richison was absent. The guests present were Mayor Queen, Clerk White, Trustee Jones and Chief Greene.
Chairman Black called the meeting to order at 5:10 p.m. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss striping the Ford Explorer, police officers’ wages and executive session to discuss increasing police officers’ wages under 5 ILCS 120/2 C1.
Striping the Ford Explorer – Mayor Queen asked Chief Greene to explain the need to put decals on the Explorer. Chief Greene was unaware of the request and was expecting to get rid of the Explorer next fiscal year to avoid repair expenses on the vehicle. Trustee Gammon explained she thought the vehicle should be marked if it is sitting in front of the school. Trustee Gammon asked other attendees their opinion. Trustee Gammon also suggested using the truck for SRO at R-A Grade School and let the SRO at BHRA use the Ford Explorer. Chief Greene did not feel the truck is a good patrol vehicle and some repairs such as sirens are needed. Trustee Black suggested Chief Greene make a list of repairs needed and get them repaired. Trustee Cornell was opposed to striping/marking the vehicle if the vehicle is that old and may be traded next year. Mayor Queen asked Chief Greene to provide an estimate of decaling the vehicle at the next regular board meeting. Trustee Gammon asked Chief Greene to provide the spreadsheet of a list of each vehicle, the mileage on the vehicle, how many miles were driven, who drove the vehicle, etc. for the next Police, Health & Safety Committee meeting.
