Neighborhood volunteers from the MLK and Devonshire HOA groups hosted cleanup events on Saturday, June 8. The events were organized to provide an opportunity for residents to discard bulky household items, unwanted furniture, and mattresses.
Funding for the cleanup effort was provided by the neighborhood small grant program administered by the Neighborhood Relations Division. Registered neighborhood groups can apply for up to $2,000 per event. These funds are used to rent dumpsters, purchase tarps, gloves, and other supplies needed for the cleanup. Additionally, snacks and water are provided for volunteers who help coordinate and work at the events.
