A Champaign woman has been charged for her role in a March 2024 shooting incident on Hickory Street. Champaign Police were dispatched to the 1400 block of N. Hickory Street at 9:24 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2024, for a report of shots fired. As officers arrived on the scene, they were notified of a 24-year-old female victim from Champaign who arrived at a local hospital by personal transport. Additional officers were dispatched to the hospital to interview the woman. The victim was treated for her wounds and later released from the hospital.

The initial investigation indicated that the woman was attending a party at a residence in the 1400 block of N. Hickory when a single shot was allegedly fired by Danielle Hoffman, 20, of Champaign, and the victim was struck. Following the shot, the victim was quickly transported to an area hospital for treatment, and other attendees at the party left the area.

Hoffman was arrested on April 4, 2024, in the 3300 block of Brentwood Drive following service of a search warrant on unrelated charges. In investigating those charges, evidence was discovered that has been linked to the incident on Hickory Street. On May 31, 2024, Hoffman’s charges were amended to include Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, a Class X Felony. She remains in custody at the Champaign County Correctional Facility.
